In hindsight, he says they probably should have settled for a total around 130-140, which he believes could have been enough on the tricky surface. Holder admits it was difficult to set a total in the opening game of a new tournament when expecting the wicket to be truer than it turns out to be. However, he says there are still plenty of positives to take, particularly from the bowling effort, while Kevin Wickham's gritty knock also stands out. He adds that a few players showed promise in short bursts and stresses that it is still early days, with plenty to learn from the performance. Reflecting on Wickham, Holder says the youngster's composure is what impressed him most. He notes that Wickham never looked flustered despite the situation, calling it a high-quality trait for a young player. Holder also praises his calm approach and natural strokeplay, adding that Wickham has shown those qualities over the last couple of years and hopes this performance proves to be the start of a strong season for him.

They can take some pride in restricting Trinbago Knight Riders to just two sixes and two fours in the chase, but with too few runs on the board, there was little room for error. Waqar Salamkheil and Jason Holder were among the wickets, but SKN needed a lot more to truly challenge the champions.

Narine weaves his magic - Earlier in the game, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots simply never found their rhythm, stumbling to a well below-par total. Kevin Wickham battled hard for a gritty 38, but with seven batters in single digits and only Obed McCoy, 13 off 10, striking at over 100 among those facing 10 or more balls, the struggles were clear. Trinbago Knight Riders, meanwhile, were relentless, with Sunil Narine once again weaving his magic through a superb 3/7, all three coming in the Powerplay. Dominic Drakes added two wickets before Terrance Hinds finished things off with a three-wicket haul, capping a superb bowling effort.

Trinbago Knight Riders begin their title defence in style, beating St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by 19 runs via DLS. The bowlers laid the foundation with a dominant display before the batters did enough to put their side in a strong position. SKN never really found their rhythm, but with this only their opening game, they will hope it is simply a case of settling into the season.
