Alex Carey is a wicketkeeper-batter from Australia who plays across all three formats. The left-handed batter took cricket career seriously at the age of 20 when his career as a footballer in the Australian Football League took a beating. Carey played for Greater Western Australia in AFL but the football career didn't last long and he switched back to cricket. Known for his good glove work and decent batting, Carey finally realised his dream of playing for Australia at the age of 27. On the back of good performances in the domestic circuit, Carey made his international debut with the ODI series against England at home in 2018. His T20I debut came against New Zealand soon after.Carey had to wait for three more years to make his Test debut. He made his red-ball debut against England at Brisbane in 2021.After three fifties and some sub and below par scores, Carey notched up his maiden ODI ton against England in Manchester in 2020. Two years later, Carey slammed a Test century against South Africa during the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. Carey became a regular feature across all formats once Tim Paine announced his retirement from Test Cricket.
